Law officials asked to appear before Justice Committee

The Garda Commissioner, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Minister for Justice are being asked to appear before an all-party committee to examine laws to deal with gangland crime.

The Garda Commissioner, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Minister for Justice are being asked to appear before an all-party committee to examine laws to deal with gangland crime.

Representatives from the legal profession, the prison service, human rights and victim support groups are also expected to attend.

Hearings begin tomorrow and will last until December 9th, with a report due before Christmas.

Justice Committee Chairman Sean Ardagh has said that several matters will examined.
