Contents of historic house up for auction

The everyday contents of one of Ireland’s most historically well-connected stately homes are to go under the hammer today.

More than 600 lots of furniture, paintings and mundane objects are expected to go for high prices at Lissadell House, Co Sligo – which has strong links with Dublin’s 1916 Easter Rising against British rule.
