Redmond jury to start deliberations
The jury in the George Redmond corruption trial is due to begin deliberations later today.
The former assistant Dublin city and county manager, who is now 79 years old, denies two charges of corruption in office relating to the sale of a right of way at Palmerstown in west Dublin in the late 1980's.
Businessman Brendan Fassnidge claims he secured planning permission for a garage which was conditional on his owning the stretch of land three days after he gave George Redmond £10,000 in a brown envelope.
The security will retire to consider its verdict after being charged by Judge Michael White.
