Councillors urged to oppose increase in house levies
The Irish Home Builders Association has called on councillors throughout Ireland to vote against planned increases in levies on new homes.
Reports this morning said the proposed increase in levies would add up to €28,000 to the cost of new homes.
County councils in several areas have announced plans to increase these levies to meet a funding shortfall caused by benchmarking pay awards to their staff.
The Irish Home Builders Association has claimed that some councils are planning to increase levies by 300%.
