INO warns of Peamount TB threat
The Irish Nurses Organisation is warning of a TB threat if patients treated at Peamount Hospital are transferred to already overcrowded general hospitals.
Health Minister Micheál Martin is planning to close Peamount Hospital in Dublin and transfer its TB care services to St. James' Hospital.
But nurses are warning that would be a huge mistake considering the rise in TB cases here.
Green Party TD John Gormley says in the light of the growing incidence of TB nationwide these services if transferred will be seriously undermined.
