Iarnród Éireann is reportedly planning to spend €340m developing the Dublin-Cork rail line between Heuston Station and Hazelhatch in Co Kildare.

Reports this morning said the plan was designed to ease overcrowding on the line, one of the busiest in Ireland.

The reports said two additional tracks would be added to the existing line and four extra carriages would also be added to each train at peak times between Kildare town and Heuston.
