Truck hijacked in Monaghan

A truck was hijacked in Co Monaghan last night, on the main Dublin to Derry road.

The articulated truck was stopped, at about 9pm, by an armed and masked man near Mullacor, Emyvale and forced to drive towards the border.

A second masked man entered the truck at Aughnacloy and the lorry driver was later released in the Ballygawley area of Co Tyrone, where the alarm was raised.

The lorry was found burned out in Dromore, Northern Ireland, by the PSNI. The trailer unit however, which contained a consignment of 84 leather suites, is still missing.
