The Eastern Regional Health Authority says it is to spend €40m fighting heart disease over the next five years.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority says it is to spend €40m fighting heart disease over the next five years.

The Heart Health Action Plan will combat the disease, which is one of the country’s biggest killers and is to blame for a quarter of the deaths in the greater Dublin area.

Michael Lyons, Chief Executive of the ERHA, says the plan includes provision for better treatment for those with heart-related illnesses as well as prevention measures.
