Groups seek rights-based disability laws

A coalition of pressure groups including Amnesty International and the Forum for People with Disabilities have launched a campaign urging the Government to implement rights-based disability legislation.

A coalition of pressure groups including Amnesty International and the Forum for People with Disabilities have launched a campaign urging the Government to implement rights-based disability legislation.

The groups want the Government to give disabled people rights to access services and the right to take legal action if such access is not provided.

They are also calling on public and private bodies to provide services aimed at removing barriers that prevent disabled people from fully participating in Irish society.
