Former Belfast Lord Mayor, the Rev Eric Smyth, today announced his intention to retire from the City Council.

Democratic Unionist Party Councillor Smyth has represented the Shankill area for the past 22 years and was Lord Mayor in 1995 when he welcomed Bill Clinton to the city during his historic presidential visit.
