Sinn Féin today defended a decision by one if its members not to share a platform with Northern Ireland police chief Hugh Orde at a political debate.

A spokeswoman confirmed Daithi Doolan did not attend Trinity College’s annual Northern Ireland debate because he considered it more important to take part in an anti-bin charge protest.
