Tech firm ‘to lay off 40 in Donegal’

MDR, a company based in the Gweedore industrial estate in Co Donegal, is set to lay-off 40 workers, according to Fine Gael TD Denis Naughten.

Mr Naughten said today that a liquidator was being appointed to the company.

He said MDR had been producing printed circuit boards in Gweedore since 1988 and had 84

employees at its plant just three years ago.

The local TD said just 500 people are now employed in the Gweedore industrial estate, compared to 1,500 four years ago.

Mr Naughten called on the Government to take action to address the situation.
