British Prime Minister Tony Blair was expected to hear fresh calls today for an Assembly election in Northern Ireland, despite a dip in mood in the peace process.

Nationalist SDLP leader Mark Durkan was expected to urge the Prime Minister to press ahead with a pre-Christmas election when the two leaders were meeting at Downing Street today.
