Two gardaí remain in hospital this morning after being doused with acid at Kilmainham District Court in Dublin yesterday.

The pair are being treated for minor burns at St James’ Hospital.

Seven gardaí were hospitalised after the acid attack, which was carried out by a man being led from the courtroom to the holding cells.

The man apparently produced a bottle of acid and began spraying it at officers who were nearby.

He had been detained shortly beforehand after he and another man sitting in the public gallery began disrupting the court.
