A PSNI officer was injured after a patrol car came under attack by youths in Belfast.

A PSNI officer was injured after a patrol car came under attack by youths in Belfast.

The officer received injuries to her face and body after a gang hurled bricks and other missiles at the vehicle on East Bridge Street in the Markets area of the city.

The attack happened shortly before 8.30pm last night.

She was taken to hospital where she received stitches and glass from the broken window of the patrol car was removed from her eye.

Police at Lisburn Road Station have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
