Flextronics to lay off 80 workers in Co Offaly
The US multinational Flextronics has announced plans to lay off its remaining 80 workers in Co Offaly and shut its computer components plant in Tullamore.
Last year, the company laid off 370 workers, blaming a loss of contracts and competition from cheaper locations in the Far East.
Yesterday, another multinational, Eurologic, announced plans to lay off its 75 employees in the Clonshaugh area of Dublin over the next six months.
Fine Gael has responded to the job losses by urging the Government not to increase costs for businesses in this year’s budget.
