A 21-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle collision in Co Laois.

A 21-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle collision in Co Laois.

The accident happened when a jeep collided with a van at around 11.15am this morning on the N78.

The young man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Portlaoise General Hospital.

The driver of the jeep sustained minor injuries and he was treated at Portlaoise General Hospital.

Gardaí at Ballylinan are to investigate the cause of the accident.
