Comptroller criticises Church-State compensation deal

The Comptroller and Auditor General has criticised the Government’s agreement to indemnify religious orders against child abuse compensation claims.

In his annual report for last year, John Purcell said the cost of the deal was never properly estimated and could reach €1bn.
