Wind farms could meet 16% of Ireland’s energy needs within the next seven years, according to a report by a group of Scottish consultants.

The report said wind farms could add around 2,000 megawatts to the Irish electricity system if politicians north and south of the border promoted them as alternative electricity-generating options.
