Fine Gael MEP not to seek re-election

Fine Gael MEP John Cushnahan has announced his intention not to seek re-election to the European Parliament next year.

Mr Cushnahan said today that he had spent 30 years involved in Irish politics on both sides of the border and wanted to take up new challenges.

The Fine Gael politician is currently an MEP for the Munster constituency.
