Gardaí in Co Monaghan are on the verge of calling off their search for the body of 17-year-old Columba McVeigh, a suspected informer murdered by the IRA in 1975.

Gardaí have been excavating an area near the village of Emyvale for almost two weeks after receiving new information from the IRA about the location of the teenager’s remains.
