Murder trial jury adjourns for second night
A murder trial jury has been sent to a hotel for the second night after failing to reach a verdict in the trial of a Kerry man accused of murdering his uncle.
Mr Eugene Daly, of Doneen, Kilcummin, Killarney, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his uncle, Mr Patrick (Paddy) Daly at Doneen on January 18, 1996.
The trial has heard that the body of Paddy Daly, a 69-year-old bachelor farmer, was found down a well on the farm. It is the defence case that Eugene Daly was an accessory to the murder after it happened and was responsible for disposing of his body in the well.
The prosecution contend that, by his own admission, the accused is guilty of pre-meditating and participating in the murder of Paddy Daly in concert with his father.
Mr Daly's father Sean was also charged with the murder of the 69-year-old bachelor, but he died three years ago.
The jury resumes its deliberations at the Central Criminal Court tomorrow.
