Inflation rate increased by 0.1% last month
Ireland’s inflation rate increased from 3.1% to 3.2% last month, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office this morning.
The CSO said prices increased by an average of 0.7% last month, bringing the annual increase to 3.2%. It said the most significant monthly increase was an 8.7% rise in the price of clothing and footwear.
On a yearly basis, the CSO said the cost of alcohol and tobacco had increased by 9.9% in the past 12 months, while education-related charges increased by 9.6%.
Health costs also increased by 6.7%, while the prices charged by restaurants and hotels rose by 6.3%.
