Naas pupils still in hospital with mystery infection

More than 20 pupils who contracted a mystery illness at a secondary school in Co Kildare yesterday remain in hospital this morning.

The students at the CBS in Naas began complaining of sore throats and high temperatures during the week.

A spokesperson for the Eastern Health Board said last night that a provisional diagnosis showed they were suffering from a viral infection in the upper respiratory tract.

The school will remain closed today as a precaution.
