Number of asylum applications fall in Ireland

United Nations statistics have revealed a fall in applications for asylum in Ireland since the start of this year.

The figures said 4,750 people applied for asylum in Ireland in the first six months of this year, 2,818 of them in the first quarter and 1,932 in the second quarter.
