Fine Gael has accused the Government of failing to put a proper system in place to care for elderly people in Ireland.

The party was responding to Junior Minister Ivor Callelly’s call for communities to work together to support the elderly.

Spokesman Michael Ring said if the Government genuinely cared about its responsibilities to older people, it would reverse cutbacks in home help introduced by Health Minister Micheál Martin.
