Minister set to expand penalty points system

The Minister for Transport Seamus Brennan has warned motorists who use mobile phones while driving they face possible penalty points from next January.

The Minister revealed his Department as currently looking at legislation relating to this matter.

Penalty points for not wearing seat belts came into law today and the Minister also announced he hopes to extend the penalty points system again after Christmas.
