Man arrested in connection with shooting

A 19-year-old man was arrested this afternoon in connection with the shooting of a young woman, gardai said.

The man was being questioned at Donnybrook Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and can be held for up to 72 hours.

The arrest follows an incident which occurred when two men, wearing balaclavas and armed with a shotgun, fired a shot into a caravan on the Pigeon House Road near Ringsend.

They then proceeded towards the Eastlink Bridge in what is believed to have been a red Honda Civic.

An 18-year-old girl who was inside the caravan sustained a gunshot wound to the lower right leg.

She was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where her injuries are described as not life-threatening.
