Gardaí at Irishtown in Dublin, who are investigating a shooting which took place at 12.30am today, say they are keeping an open mind over the cause of the attack.

The incident occurred when two men, wearing balaclavas and armed with a shotgun, fired a shot into a caravan on the Pigeon House Road near Ringsend.

They then proceeded towards the Eastlink Bridge in what is believed to have been a red Honda Civic.

An 18-year-old girl who was inside the caravan sustained a gunshot wound to the lower right leg.

She was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where her injuries are described as not life-threatening.

The scene has been sealed off pending a technical examination later.
