Funeral of gunned down McGurk to take place

The funeral of murdered west Belfast man Danny McGurk, shot dead at his home last weekend by dissident republicans, takes place today.

Two Real IRA gunmen pumped three bullets into father-of-six Daniel McGurk, 35, at his home in the Lower Falls area when he opened the front door last Saturday morning.

Mr McGurk, who was hit in the chest, thigh and ankle, died later in the nearby Royal Victoria Hospital.

Police believe renegade republicans opposed to Sinn Féin leaders Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness and their support for the North's peace process were behind the murder.
