SDLP to meet Garda Commissioner

The SDLP is to become the first party from the North to meet a Garda Commissioner.

Discussions will focus on closer co-operation between police services North and South in pursuing and prosecuting organised crime.

The delegation will be asking leadership of the gardaí to identify and encourage officers to carry out exchanges and secondments to the North.

The SDLP will also urge that future senior Garda recruitment campaigns should welcome applicants from the North.
