The Church of Ireland Archbishops of Dublin and Armagh have released a statement saying the election of an openly gay bishop in the United States posed a real danger to the unity of Anglican church.

Dr John Neill and Dr Robin Eames said the election of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire had created a sense of "hurt and alienation" within the church.
