Cork students warned to avoid bad accommodation
The students union at University College Cork has warned students to beware of landlords who provide sub-standard accommodation.
The UCC students union said finding a house or flat to let in Cork is not a problem, but it accused some landlords of providing properties with no adequate fire safety equipment, faulty wiring or with mould growing on the walls.
Spokesperson Denise Coughlan said there is no shortage of accommodation for students in Cork so people should shop around rather than rush to rent the first available property.
She also said students should know their rights when it comes to renting houses or flats.
