Dempsey lends support for smoking ban

Education Minister Noel Dempsey has expressed his support for Health Minister Micheál Martin's plan to ban smoking in all workplaces next year.

The proposed ban, which has attracted widespread opposition from publicans, hoteliers and restaurateurs, is due to come into force on January 1.
