Cullen claims progress on recycling

Environment Minister Martin Cullen has claimed that one-third of Irish households recycle their rubbish.

Mr Cullen said the introduction of so-called "green bins" had led to a significant increase in the amount of glass, cans and cardboard being recycled.

He said he hoped every household would be in a position to recycle its rubbish within the next few years.
