Dana criticises Govt delay on constituency borders

Irish MEP Rosemary "Dana" Scallon has criticised the Government's delay in appointing a Boundary Commission to redraw the borders of Irish voting constituencies.

The number of Irish MEPs is due to fall from 15 to 11 in next year's European elections and the Government has asked the commission to draw up new constituency borders by January.

Ms Scallon said this would leave independent candidates at a disadvantage due to the little time they had to prepare their election campaigns.
