Norris criticises Catholic Church comments

Irish Senator David Norris has criticised the Catholic Church's decision to speak out against same-sex marriages and adoptions by homosexual couples.

Several countries have already legalised gay marriages and adoptions, but the Vatican said yesterday that politicians and governments should oppose such legislation on moral grounds.

Mr Norris said the statement was hypocritical as it was coming from an organisation that had deliberately presided over the concealment and protection of paedophile priests.
