Council grants planning permission for Croke Park hotel

Dublin City Council has granted planning permission for a proposed hotel development near Croke Park in the north of the city.

The GAA had sought permission for the hotel in Colliers Kitchen, off Jones' Road. The new hotel will include a bar and restaurant but under planning permission must not feature a nightclub. Parking facilities will also be provided for more than 200 cars.

Dublin City Council received around 200 objections from local residents, but it approved the application nonetheless, saying the area would benefit economically.

However, the council told the GAA that it must seek separate permission for a footbridge linking the proposed hotel with Croke Park.

Residents have four weeks to lodge an appeal against the decision.
