PUP to oppose Derry name change

The Progressive Unionist Party is due to meet British government minister Angela Smith today in an effort to scupper plans to change the official name of Derry from Londonderry.

The "London" section was added to the city's name when it was handed over to the London Trade Guilds for development in 1641.
