FG accuses Martin of poor financial planning

Fine Gael has accused Health Minister Micheal Martin of poor financial planning on foot of a document released under the Freedom of Information Act.

Fine Gael has accused Health Minister Micheal Martin of poor financial planning on foot of a document released under the Freedom of Information Act.

The document in question was a submission to the Department of Health from the Midlands Health Board for a €1.1m medical assessment unit in Mullingar.

Fine Gael said the document consisted of less than half a page of figures outlining the likely costs associated with the unit.

The party said Mr Martin should clarify if such scant proposals were the norm when health boards applied for funding.
