Ruddle family to get independent inquiry
Health Minister Micheál Martin is expected to announce plans later this week to establish an independent inquiry into the death of a two-year-old girl following the cancellation of her planned heart surgery.
Róisín Ruddle died at her home in Limerick on July 1, a day after Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin cancelled her operation due to a shortage of intensive care nurses.
The Ruddle family has called for an independent inquiry into the matter after expressing their disappointment with the results of an investigation carried out by the Eastern Regional Health Authority.
