Call for extension of penalty points

Drivers who illegally park in disabled places should be punished with penalty points.

That is according to Seanad spokesperson on Transport Senator Tim Dooley.

Senator Dooley said that if the system was extended to cover those who abused parking spaces for disabled drivers, able-bodied drivers would then be less inclined to use these spaces.

The Seanad member says that €80 is not enough for a fine, or deterrent.
