Govt to introduce new disabilities legislation

The Disability Legislation Consultation Group has announced that the Government has agreed to introduce rights-based disabilities legislation in November.

The Disability Legislation Consultation Group has announced that the Government has agreed to introduce rights-based disabilities legislation in November.

The group made the announcement following a meeting with the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, and Junior Minister Willie O'Dea earlier today.

Under the legislation, disabled people will have a right to access services and a right to seek damages if the Government fails to provide these services.
