Ardoyne residents object to Orange marches

Residents of the Ardoyne area of north Belfast have called on the Parades Commission to reverse its decision to allow two Orange marches through the area tomorrow.

Parish priest Aidan Troy and other locals have objected to the return parade in the evening on the grounds that it disrupts their lives.

Gerard McGuigan, a spokesman for the Ardoyne residents, said the security operation surrounding the march would severely disrupt the local ambulance station, which he said was the busiest in Belfast.

Mr McGuigan also said that people living on the nearby Crumlin Road will be denied access to the lanes they use to get to mass in Ardoyne.
