Kenny raises Sellafield concerns with British Ambassador
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said today that he had relayed his concerns about the Sellafield nuclear plant to the British Ambassador to Ireland.
Mr Kenny and a delegation of his Fine Gael colleagues visited the plant earlier this week.
British Nuclear Fuels Ltd, which operates Sellafield, admitted yesterday that its radioactive discharges into the Irish Sea were set to increase because of new procedures in dealing with sludge from high-level waste tanks.
"BNFL were unable to confirm the extent of these discharges or the duration of how long they would continue," Mr Kenny said.
