Fluoridation report 'suppressed'
Members of the body established to advise the Government about fluoridation have claimed that a report highlighting potential adverse affects of fluoridation was suppressed.
The report by the Food Safety Authority, which was given to the Forum on Fluoridation, advised mothers not to use tap water in babies' bottles because of fluoride levels.
However, the document was not mentioned in the forum's final report, which told the Government that fluoride levels in the water supply posed no health risk.
The members of the Forum on Fluoridation who claim the study was deliberately not included in the final report are due to make a presentation to the Oireachtas health committee today.
They claim the Forum on Fluoridation was biased from the outset and that fluoridation of the water supply would have been banned if the FSA document was included in their final report.
