Lord Mayor formally opens Dublin Spire

Dublin Lord Mayor Dermot Lacey has formally opened the city's Spire monument.

The 120m spike, which was originally due to be completed for the millennium, was erected last January and cost almost €5m.

Mr Lacey buried a time capsule in the ground under the monument today in the hope that it will remain there for at least two centuries.
