Flood resignation in best interests - Ahern

The Taoiseach has declared this evening that Justice Fergus Flood's resignation last week was in the best interests of the Planning and Payments Tribunal.

Bertie Ahern was answering questions in the Dáil when he made his statement.

The Taoiseach outlined the sequence of events leading up to Justice Flood's resignation last Friday.

He added that media speculation since then had been "wrong and unhelpful" in relation to the matter.
