Gardai planning whistle-blower campaign

The gardaí are reportedly planning to introduce a nationwide system whereby the public can report motorists who break the law.

The initiative has already been introduced on a pilot basis in Carlow and Kilkenny, where more than 400 calls were received each week.

Based on these figures, a countrywide campaign could see up to 5,000 offences reported weekly.
