McDowell to launch crime prevention report
Justice Minister Michael McDowell is due to launch a report on crime prevention later today.
The report, compiled in conjunction with the National Crime Council, proposes local crime prevention strategies to tackle offences like assaults, burglaries and drug use.
Mary Burke, director of the Crime Council, said: "Fighting crime and crime prevention is not a matter just for the arms of the criminal justice system. Fighting crime is really something that needs broad inter-agency support and obviously a key aspect of that is local community involvement."
